Biden Outlines Conditions for Ukraine's NATO Membership
U.S. President Joe Biden has detailed the conditions under which Ukraine can join NATO. According to Gazeta.ru, the White House leader stated that Ukraine must convince the alliance that it deserves to be a member and do everything necessary to achieve that goal.
The first condition he mentioned is the elimination of corruption within the country. At the same time, he added that ongoing military operations in Ukraine do not obstruct its path to membership.
“The fact is, they still need to rid themselves of corruption. The fact is, to receive an action plan, you must meet other criteria,” Biden said.
Biden recalled that a few years ago, when he was the Vice President of the U.S., he expressed during a speech at the Verkhovna Rada that Ukraine had a chance to become a democratic nation not governed by oligarchs.
The U.S. will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine to help ensure its physical security.
