"They have rejected him, but they haven't deprived the party of participating in the elections" - Spokesperson for Tigran Arzakantsyans
The Armenian Democratic Party will continue its election campaign and its fight to enter the parliament. Tigran Hovhannisyan, spokesperson for Tigran Arzakantsyans, stated this in a conversation with Tert.am.
Recall that the decision by the Electoral Commission not to register Tigran Arzakantsyans as the party's prime ministerial candidate has been appealed to the Court of Appeals. Today, the court rejected Arzakantsyans' application and upheld the Electoral Commission's decision.
“Mr. Arzakantsyans will be alongside his supporters until the end, and in the event of victory, Mr. Arzakantsyans will be presented as the country's prime minister,” he said.
Regarding the court's decision, he noted, “They have rejected him, but they haven't deprived the party of participating in the elections.”
The spokesperson also mentioned that Tigran Arzakantsyans will continue his struggle in the same way. However, when asked whether his photos would be removed from the campaign posters, he said he could not comment on that yet.
Nevertheless, he emphasized that they do not consider the court's decision to be fair. “We believe that this is an illegitimate decision, as Mr. Arzakantsyans could have been informed of this from the very beginning, rather than after some time. In our opinion, this is an attempt to remove a person who has gained significant authority and rating during this time from the political struggle,” he concluded.
