New Shepard Suborbital Flight Opportunity Sold for 28 Million Dollars
The American aerospace company Blue Origin has completed an online auction for a seat on the New Shepard spacecraft, closing at a final bid of 28 million dollars. Approximately 7,600 people from 159 countries registered for the auction, in which the initial price for the flight was set at 4.8 million dollars, according to Blue Origin's official website.
The starting price for the flight was 4.8 million dollars. The auction lasted only a few minutes. The winner will travel to space aboard the New Shepard spacecraft on July 20 and will spend approximately 11 minutes there. Joining him will be Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos and his brother Mark.
The proceeds from the auction will be donated to a nonprofit foundation aimed at inspiring children to pursue education and careers in science and technology.
