Russia Conducts Exercises in the Pacific Ocean with Participation of 20 Combat Ships

The Pacific Fleet's naval group, in cooperation with aviation, is conducting operational exercises in the central part of the Pacific Ocean, reports Interfax.

“Up to 20 combat ships, submarines, and supply vessels are involved in the exercises in the far sea zone, including the missile cruiser 'Varyag' of the Nakhimov Guard Order,” announced the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to the ministry, the group includes the large anti-submarine ship 'Admiral Panteleyev', the frigate 'Marshal Shaposhnikov', the measuring complex ship 'Marshal Krylov', as well as logistics and other vessels. Around 20 flying devices are also involved in the exercises, including the long-range anti-submarine Tu-142M3 aircraft, the Defense Ministry stated.

It is noted that the operational exercises with diverse forces of the fleet are being conducted under the overall command of Sergey Avagyan, commander of the Pacific Fleet in line with the 2021 preparation program of the Pacific Fleet.

The announcement also indicated that during the exercises, the ship crews of the Pacific Fleet group performed artillery fire drills from the AK-630 automated naval system and the A-190 universal naval system.
