VIDEO. The Democratic Party of Armenia Does Not Recognize the CEC's Decision Not to Register Tigran Arzakanzyan

The leader of the Democratic Party, Tigran Arzakanzyan, wrote on his Facebook page: “The Democratic Party of Armenia does not recognize the Central Electoral Commission's decision not to register the party's prime ministerial candidate, Tigran Arzakanzyan, considering it a manifestation of political bias. We believe this decision was made under pressure since the Democratic Party has transformed into a significant force, and Tigran Arzakanzyan has gained a reputation that commands the trust of tens of thousands of voters.

It should be noted that all party documents have been accepted and registered; the law has no retroactive effect. The decision will soon be appealed in court. The removal of the Democratic Party's leader raises doubts about the legality of the elections on June 20 altogether. It is evident that the Central Electoral Commission will make similar decisions time and again, which also casts doubt on the fairness of future election results. Let us collectively defend the state from any illegal actions.”
