Pension Payments in Yerevan, Gyumri, and Vanadzor to Change from July 1
Pensions in Yerevan, Gyumri, and Vanadzor will be paid out in a non-cash manner starting July 1, according to the government decision approved at the executive session on June 10, as reported by Armenpress.
The draft decision to amend the government resolution from May 5, 2011, was presented by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Tatevik Stepanyan. The adoption of the draft aims to ensure the implementation of the law on amendments and supplements to the Law on State Pensions, passed on June 18, 2020.
According to the changes in the legislation, starting July 1, 2021, pensions in Yerevan, Gyumri, and Vanadzor will be paid out non-cash, through banks or the national operator, except in cases defined by law. These exceptions include cases where the pensioner is a person with first or second group disability or has reached 75 years of age or when the pension is paid out by proxy or to a minor over 14 years old.
Stepanyan noted that there are 56,433 citizens who fall outside these exceptions. The program will automatically select the payment organization if the citizen does not make a choice by July.
