New Developments in Former Police Chief Hayk Harutyunyan's Suicide Case

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the investigation into the criminal case against former Police Chief Hayk Harutyunyan, accused in the "March 1" case of causing his own suicide, has been suspended according to the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

According to the committee, a post-mortem psychological examination has been appointed, and following the conclusion, the criminal case will likely be closed.

It was previously reported that the relatives of the former police chief, particularly Hayk Harutyunyan's nephew, had expressed a continuous interest in the case and had submitted requests to the Investigative Committee.

It is worth recalling that on September 24, 2019, the body of Hayk Harutyunyan, who served as the Head of the Police of Armenia from 2003 to 2008, was found in a villa in Bjni with a gunshot wound to the head.

We also reported that the former Deputy Police Chief, Lieutenant General Ararat Mahtejyan, was interrogated in connection with the investigation into Hayk Harutyunyan's suicide case.
