Major Fire in Yerevan: Numerous Firefighters Arrive, Fire Complexity Rated 'Level 2'
For over 2 hours now, a large number of firefighters from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' Yerevan fire-rescue teams have been battling a significant fire that broke out in one of the houses on Anarayan Street, with the help of citizens.
As reported from the scene by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, before the firefighters arrived, citizens—mainly young people—managed to prevent the spread of the fire using their own efforts. To facilitate the work of the firefighters, road police from the 1st service battalion's 3rd and 5th squads, led by the commander of the 3rd squad, Vruyr Gabrielian, escorted the fire trucks to the site, clearing the way, as the firefighters were struggling to reach the fire location due to drivers who, as people say, were slow to understand the situation.
A standby team from the Medical Support Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has also arrived. Currently, the spread of the fire has been stopped, and the firefighters managed to extinguish the flames completely. They are now conducting reconnaissance operations to determine if any fire hotspots remain.
The work at the scene is being supervised by Zaven Melkonyan, the deputy head of the Yerevan Rescue Department. Employees from Gazprom Armenia's Yerevan Gas Distribution Company have also arrived promptly, as well as representatives from the Electric Networks of Armenia. Additionally, the Yerevan emergency medical response team's number 6 brigade has arrived to provide assistance in case any citizens or firefighters need medical attention due to smoke inhalation or deteriorating health.
