Criminal Case Initiated Over Storing Soldiers' Bodies and Remains in Bags in Basements
The Prosecutor's Office of Kotayk Province has launched a criminal case regarding the incident where the bodies and remains of soldiers who perished in the Artsakh war were transferred to polyethylene bags due to a lack of space in the forensic examination facilities of the Ministry of Justice. These bags were reportedly left in basement rooms that lacked necessary storage conditions.
Gor Abrahamyan, Advisor to the Prosecutor General, announced this on his Facebook page. He noted, “In connection with this case, materials have begun to be prepared at the Abovyan Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia immediately after receiving information on May 31.”
Abrahamyan added that during ongoing investigative actions, six bags containing the bodies and remains of the fallen soldiers were moved from the basement to the freezers of the forensic examination facility in Kotayk Province, while the others were transferred to the morgue in Martuni, Gegharkunik Province.
