Another Shooting Incident in Armavir Province

On May 30, 2021, around 21:30, a dispute and brawl between a group of individuals occurred in the Araks community of Armavir Province due to domestic issues, during which one person sustained bodily injuries, and gunshots were fired.

A criminal case has been initiated on charges of hooliganism and illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of weapons, with the investigation being conducted by the Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

As a result of urgent investigative and procedural actions carried out during the preliminary investigation, as well as measures undertaken in cooperation with officers of the RA police, several circumstances of the incident have been clarified, including the identity of the person who fired the shots from an automatic weapon.

A forensic examination has been scheduled to ascertain significant circumstances related to the criminal case, and several individuals, including participants in the incident, have been interrogated, some of whom provided self-incriminating statements.

Preventive measures have been selected for three individuals, including a signature not to leave. Efforts are underway to verify the data obtained during the investigation and the circumstances noted in the testimonies and to locate the automatic weapon that served as the instrument of the crime. Based on the evidence collected, the actions of the participants involved in the incident will be given an appropriate legal assessment.

Note: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the laws of the RA Criminal Procedure Code, by a legally binding court decision.
