Water Releases from Lake Sevan Have Begun
As of the end of May 2021, water releases from Lake Sevan have commenced for irrigation purposes. According to the Armenian government's Ministry of Emergency Situations 'HayHydromet' service, by May 31, 2021, a total of 6 million 489 thousand cubic meters of water had already been released from Lake Sevan.
As per the same source, on that day, Lake Sevan was at an elevation of 1900 meters and 90 centimeters above sea level, which is 13 centimeters higher than the same day last year. From January 2021 until May 31, 108 million 511 thousand cubic meters of water have flowed into Lake Sevan through the Arpa-Sevan tunnel system, including underground flows.
