Grandmaster Hovhannes Gabuzyan Wins Ticket to World Cup by Defeating Turkish Opponent

The champion of Armenian chess, Hovhannes Gabuzyan, has secured a ticket to the World Cup. According to “Armenpress”, in the decisive match, he triumphed over Turkey’s Sanal Vahap.

Team members Haik Martirosyan and Grandmaster Shant Sargsyan also earned their spots for the World Cup. The qualification tournament for the World Cup was held remotely. A total of 264 chess players from 35 countries participated, including 164 grandmasters and 65 international masters. Armenia was represented by 13 chess players.
