Wizz Air Begins Rerouting Flights to Circumvent Belarusian Airspace

The Hungarian airline Wizz Air has started to change the flight paths of its aircraft as of today, bypassing Belarusian airspace. Specifically, the Kyiv-Tallinn flight was conducted through Polish airspace, according to data from the international air transport monitoring service Flightradar, as reported by korrespondent.net.

It is noted that the aircraft departing from Kyiv's Sikorsky International Airport altered its standard route which typically passes through the airspace of Belarus and Poland. According to various estimates, the total length of the flight has increased by an average of 30 percent.

It is worth mentioning that a day earlier, a flight en route from Athens to Vilnius changed its course after flying over much of Belarus and approaching the border with Lithuania, heading towards Minsk. The airport in Minsk reported that, according to the pilots, the aircraft was 'armed,' but this information was refuted during inspections.

Belarusian sources reported that President Alexander Lukashenko personally ordered the acceptance of the Ryanair aircraft in Minsk. Following the landing, the former chief editor of the extremist-recognized NEXTA Telegram channel, Roman Protasevich, was arrested at the airport.
