Number of Disability Status Granted Due to 44-Day War: Ministry Responds to Factinfo Inquiry
As a result of the 44-day Artsakh war, disability status has been granted to 1,222 individuals. This information was provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in response to a written inquiry from Factinfo.
Since the military actions unleashed against the Republic of Artsakh on September 27, 2020, 1,222 individuals who suffered injuries, wounds, or illnesses have been granted disability status. Among them, 111 received first-category disability, 348 received second-category disability, and 763 received third-category disability.
The level of disability is determined based on a medical-social examination conducted by authorized state bodies in the field of medical-social expertise, specifically the relevant structural subdivisions of the medical-social expertise office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the territorial medical-social examination departments.
After the establishment of disability group, citizens can benefit from rights and privileges stipulated by law, and necessary assistive devices are provided free of charge.
The Ministry added that one-time assistance is granted to families of victims among the civilian population and to citizens of Armenia and Artsakh who have acquired disabilities during the defense of Artsakh. A one-time assistance of 3,000,000 drams is given to citizens with first-category disability. For the second category, 2,000,000 drams are allocated, while for the third category, a one-time assistance of 1,000,000 drams is provided.
Regardless of the category of disability, injured servicemen have received a one-time assistance of 500,000 drams.
