Heart Issues Reported in Teens After Vaccination with Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech in the U.S.
Heart issues have emerged in several teenagers and young adults following vaccination with the coronavirus vaccines developed by Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech in the U.S. This information was reported by The New York Times.
Among those vaccinated, some have experienced myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle that can occur after certain infections.
According to the report, cases of side effects were reported four days after receiving the second dose of the vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the U.S. is currently investigating the data regarding the onset of these side effects. The occurrences of side effects have been more frequent in boys than in girls.
Experts are still determining whether the cases of myocarditis are linked to the vaccination or are merely coincidental. They have urged healthcare providers to be vigilant for unusual heart symptoms in young people following vaccination.
The use of the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine for individuals aged 12-15 has been authorized since May 10.
