80 Armenian Pilgrims Visit Amaras Monastery Accompanied by Russian Peacekeepers

80 Armenian pilgrims from Stepanakert and surrounding villages visited the Amaras Monastery complex yesterday, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The agency notes that the peacekeepers ensured the safe movement of the pilgrims to Amaras and back.

After the ceasefire agreement was reached, the early medieval Amaras Monastery was located immediately adjacent to the demarcation line between the parties. Russian peacekeeping troops regularly ensure the safety of pilgrims wishing to visit the holy site, the Russian Ministry of Defense writes.
