28-Year-Old Driver of Toyota Dies Following Major Car Accident in Syunik

On May 23, a 28-year-old resident of Kapan, Hrant Matevosyan, died in the hospital after being hospitalized due to severe injuries sustained in a car accident.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Matevosyan was transferred to the Kapan Medical Center on May 19 following a serious road accident. As previously reported, the accident occurred in the Syunik Province on May 19. Around 22:50, Hrant Matevosyan, driving a Toyota Platz, veered into the opposite lane on Gortsaranayin Street in Kapan, collided with the stairs of the 'Domus' shopping center located at number 1/7, and overturned.

As a result of the collision, driver Hrant Matevosyan and passengers—18-year-old Gurgen Ghazaryan, 21-year-old Ara Zakaryan, and 18-year-old Yuri Patvakan—were taken to the Kapan Medical Center with injuries. Officers from the 2nd Police Battalion of the Traffic Police, led by battalion commander Gegham Margaryan, arrived at the scene. The investigative work at the site was managed by investigator Avagyan from the same battalion, and materials regarding the incident are being prepared.

Notice: The suspect or the accused in a presumed crime is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court ruling that has entered into legal force in accordance with the Armenian Criminal Procedure Code.
