No Information at This Time About Assaulting Soldier Who Left Military Base in Vardenis, Prosecutor's Office

The Prosecutor's Office has issued a statement regarding media publications about the disappearance of a soldier of the RA Armed Forces, which we present below.

On May 18, 2021, the military police division of the Ministry of Defense of the RA was informed that on the same day, around 17:00, a conscript soldier, Private N.M. (born September 21, 2002, drafted in 2021 from the Tavush regional military commissariat), was absent from the area under the protection of unit N of the Ministry of Defense located in the Gegharkunik region of Vardenis.

The whereabouts of the soldier is currently unknown. At this time, there is no information regarding the soldier being assaulted at his place of service, being subjected to violence, or having his honor and dignity undermined. There are also no records of the soldier having come into contact with the enemy in any form.

Despite the enhanced service being carried out due to the situation along the state border in this region, as of May 18, the soldier has not been in an area of immediate contact with enemy forces. Nevertheless, search efforts are ongoing.

In connection with this incident, materials are being prepared in the Vardenis division of the military police of the Ministry of Defense, and measures are being taken not only to locate the soldier but also to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

Considering this situation, we urge to refrain from publishing unverified information regarding the incident. The Prosecutor's Office of the RA will properly inform the public of any new developments.
