The Urban Development Council Approves Modernization Project for Komitas Avenue Market

The Urban Development Council has approved the modernization project for the market on Komitas Avenue. This information comes from the Facebook page of the Yerevan City Hall.

During the latest session of the Urban Development Council attached to the Mayor of Yerevan, a project proposal for modernizing the closed market located at 53 Komitas Avenue and constructing a multifunctional residential complex was discussed and approved. Architect Anahit Tarkhanian noted that the market will fully retain its intended purpose. The state-designated building will be reinforced, renovated, modernized, and will become an interesting tourist spot with Yerevan's unique character.

The investor has expressed willingness to simultaneously renovate the roof of the adjacent building and create a unified approach to the area. Additionally, a residential complex consisting of three buildings with recreational and service halls will be constructed on the land located behind the closed market.

David Jgnavoryan, an advisor to the Mayor of Yerevan, emphasized that although the council has given a positive opinion on the project, there are certain reservations regarding the number of floors and volumes of the buildings, which need to be clarified and modified during the design phase.

The council members rejected the sketch design project for constructing a residential area with multi-apartment buildings in Malatia-Sebastia. Considering the need for balanced urban development, the council members highlighted the importance of the investment project concept while emphasizing that the project must meet the architectural demands of 21st-century urban development.
