Don't Dare Blame the Foreign Ministry for the State of Insubordination: Presidential Advisor of Armenia

Ruben Karapetyan, an advisor to the President of Armenia, expressed his opinion on his Facebook page, warning that the ongoing internal political situation in Armenia poses a threat to the stability of the Armenian state and primarily to the three fundamental pillars of our state security: the Ministry of Defense, the National Security Service, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“After the defeat in the Artsakh war and with the continuation of hostilities on Armenian territory due to the invasion of the enemy's armed forces, the ongoing internal political crisis is increasingly taking on a destructive nature, which will ultimately dismantle the Armenian state and, first and foremost, undermine our state security pillars: the Ministry of Defense, the National Security Service, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he stated.

“Yesterday, attempts were made to drag one of the last intact bastions of statehood, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, into the internal political process, trying to assign part of the blame for the current situation to the Ministry in connection with a document that the Prime Minister is to sign.”

“I will not focus on the possible signing of this document that is still unknown to the public and the measures to prevent it, but I must emphasize that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, like the Armenian Army, was created almost from scratch after Armenia's independence and is one of the fundamental power pillars ensuring Armenia's national security.”

“Over these years, we have managed to create a truly established and efficient system with high-class professional diplomats capable of solving even the most complex diplomatic issues. I say this with confidence because I have had the honor to participate and am proud of my humble contribution to the establishment and development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since the founding of our foreign policy agency.”

“It is well-known that foreign policy is a continuation of domestic policy, or as it is said, ‘foreign policy begins at home.’ Therefore, don’t dare place the blame for the destructive issues within our home and the state of insubordination on the Foreign Ministry, which, with its limited resources and continuously being impacted by the negative effects of the country’s internal politics, is honorably fulfilling, is fulfilling, and will continue to fulfill its designated functions.”

“In the current situation, I find it unacceptable to involve the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in internal political issues, to undermine its authority, or to disrupt its normal functioning, just as it is unacceptable to blame our army and soldiers for the defeat in the war today.”

“Do not forget that diplomats are also our soldiers, but on the external front.”
