In 2018, the State Lost and, as We Now See, Died: Mikayel Minasyan
Former Armenian Ambassador to the Holy See Mikayel Minasyan made a statement on his Facebook page:
“A state crosses the borders of another state without any declaration or warning at three points at once, and has been deepening its presence in that territory for a week now. The other state initially pretends that there is no such fact and tries to cover it up, later requesting a military chief from another state to negotiate on its behalf. Then they create a background suggesting that the negotiations ended successfully and the advance has been halted. A few hours pass, and it turns out that the advance continues and the presence increases.
How would we react if we read about the history of two countries, if it did not concern Armenia, because, as you know, this is what is happening to us today. We would think that it is impossible, a utopian farce. Meanwhile, this story is not fictional; it is happening right before our eyes and has already been going on for a week.
A few questions:
- Why has there been no border guard unit, NSS, or relevant unit of the Ministry of Defense standing against the Azerbaijanis, not even one armed person? At least one.
- I sincerely cannot understand the calmness and why the proud citizens of Armenia consider their chosen government's total absence to be normal. More than six months have passed since the war, the Ministry of Defense has not prepared the frontline, has not ensured the security of borders, and is not even dealing with this issue. Well, there is no need to even talk about such 'secondary' organizations as the NSS, which include the border guard units, the Prosecutor General's Office, the investigative bodies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Armenian embassies.
- Where is the Prime Minister, who is an abortion-nothing, rejected by the oligarchy and disregarded by the international community? You chose a prime minister, you cherished him, kept him against betrayal, death, and defeat; four days ago, you were slaughtering sheep at his feet in Gegharkunik. Don’t you care that wherever this man goes, the Turk is coming behind him? Moreover, he is coming not for himself, but for your homes.
In 2018, the people genuinely won, as the crowd shouted. But the people won over the state. In 2018, the state lost and, as we see now, died. From that moment on, everything that is happening is a feast of the victory of the people over the state’s self-destruction. There is no state left. There is no desire to preserve the rest either. And when there is no state, there are no state borders. That is why people are reacting to all this so normally. That is why a spy from Turkey, funded by taxpayers, announces from the H1 channel that they are protecting the person, not the land. And he still exists, representing the people of Armenia in the Parliament.
Everything is said by this. There is a great self-deception, thinking that when we say people, we are referring to the grandfather in this video who wants to slaughter sheep at Nikol’s feet. Meanwhile, everyone is the people—Vazgen Manukyan, whose leading movement vanished as if it never existed; Gagik Tsarukyan, who sincerely does not try to understand what the bad thing was about the well-known fireworks.
There is the people, Ararat Mirzoyan, the second face of Armenia, whose being a spy was accepted, then processed, and forgotten. There are the women who made noise in 2018, starting everything by banging on pots from balconies, the echo of which returned from Yerablur in the form of a lament rising to the sky.
There are Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who is the only precedent in the world, being called the founding president while also participating in the burial of his founded state. There are Davit Tonoyan and Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who were bringing new territories with new wars through speeches or turning mountains through diplomacy, instilling confidence in the abortion, but now fled in the guise of an innocent victim.
And the people are all those who preferred the crowd over the state, killing the state and the citizen. And they did it with pride, bravado, ignorance, malice, childishness, and inebriation.
Cursed be Armenia's enemies—both internal and external. Long live the Republic of Armenia, which existed and can be reborn.”
