VIDEO: Brawl Between Azerbaijanis and Georgians Occurs

On May 16, a brawl occurred in the town of Dmanisi, Georgia, involving individuals of Azerbaijani and Georgian descent. As seen in footage captured by a store's security camera, dozens of people engaged in physical violence, using wooden bats as weapons.

According to Dmanisi's Mayor Giorgi Tatuaashvili, the fight broke out among young people and did not originate from ethnic tensions. This claim is disputed by representatives of the Azerbaijani community, who assert that the clash had nationalistic motives.

A store clerk in Dmanisi stated that the conflict began after he refused to sell beer on credit to a group of young people. Since last night, an investigation has been underway at the Dmanisi regional administration, though only representatives of the Azerbaijani community have been questioned so far. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
