Azerbaijani Forces Attempt Rear Support Operations in Syunik, Prevented by Armenian Units: Ministry of Defense
The situation along the borders of the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions of the Republic of Armenia, following provocative actions by Azerbaijani forces, has remained unchanged as of the morning of May 16, as reported by the Ministry of Defense press service.
“During the night, the Azerbaijani side attempted to conduct certain rear support operations, which were thwarted by Armenian units. It is important to note that in all three directions where Azerbaijani forces attempted to achieve positional advancement, all potential supply routes are under the full control of the Armenian armed forces, meaning they are deprived of the opportunity to replenish weapons and other resources,” the statement from the Ministry of Defense noted.
The situation is stable, and representatives of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are not undertaking any fortification measures nor making attempts to escalate the situation. As previously reported, negotiations aimed at a peaceful resolution of the current situation will resume today at 14:00,” the Ministry of Defense's message concluded.
