Lavrov Discusses Importance of Demarcation and Delimitation in Azerbaijan

Moscow is fully committed to the agreements reached regarding the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh, in accordance with the statements of the three leaders from November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021.

“Now we need to focus on the details on the ground, addressing issues related to demarcation and delimitation. It is not easy, but it is solvable. Military experts, with the involvement of diplomats, can agree on mutually acceptable solutions,” Lavrov said.

He also spoke about the importance of opening communications, noting that it is necessary to balance the interests of all countries in the South Caucasus and their neighbors. “It is a potentially serious transport hub that can have importance extending beyond the region,” Lavrov stated.

Lavrov further mentioned that Moscow is genuinely interested in the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. “We agree that non-friendly rhetoric does not help. We will try to contribute to creating conditions that facilitate constructive results from the agreements reached between the two presidents and the Prime Minister of Armenia. I hope that we will be able to discuss in detail the tasks arising within the framework of bilateral relations during the negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan today and tomorrow,” Lavrov added.
