Dozens of Bodies of COVID-19 Victims Discovered in India’s Ganges River

The Ganges River in India is believed to have become the final resting place for dozens of people who died from the coronavirus. Approximately 150 bodies have been found in the waters of the Buxar district in eastern Bihar, according to The Times of India.

As reported by the newspaper, the bodies may have been cast into the river by relatives of the deceased, as cremation in accordance with traditional rites is often prohibitively expensive for the poorer segments of the population.

Local residents are terrified and are demanding that authorities take immediate action. According to district officials, most of the bodies were thrown into the Ganges several days ago.
