The Death Toll from the Explosion in Kabul Exceeds 85
At least 85 people have died and 150 others have been injured following an explosion near a school in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, on May 8. This was reported by Afghanistan's Ariana News on May 10, citing a representative of the country's second vice president.
According to the report, three consecutive explosions occurred in front of a girls' state school in Kabul. The first explosion was triggered by a car bomb not far from the school. Subsequently, two homemade devices detonated. No group has claimed responsibility for the explosions at this time. The Taliban movement has denied any connection to the incident.
Earlier, Reuters had reported 55 fatalities and 150 injuries related to the blasts. According to TOLOnews, the death toll had risen to 63 by May 9, with the majority of the victims being students. Afghan leader Ashraf Ghani categorized the incident as a terrorist act and attributed it to the Taliban. Meanwhile, 1TV reported that the Taliban condemned the attack, as reported by TASS.
