The Second Artsakh War took away our right to call this day a triumphant celebration. This was stated by Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, in his speech on Victory Day.

He particularly noted, “Dear compatriots, sisters and brothers of Armenia and Artsakh, every year on this day, we used to send our congratulations on the momentous Triumphal Celebration of the Great Patriotic War victory, the Defense Army of Artsakh, and the liberation of Shushi. Unfortunately, the Second Artsakh War unleashed in September 2020 took away our right to call this day a celebration because we lost the liberated Shushi. But I want to believe that sooner or later we will restore that right.

I am currently in Artsakh, alongside the people of Artsakh. In this difficult moment, each of us must do everything possible and impossible to keep the rear of Artsakh strong and to return smiles to the people of Artsakh.

In our history, there have always been decisive moments and various challenges, which we have overcome with our strong will and unity, and we will continue to overcome difficulties in the same way and strengthen the two Armenian republics.

This year marks the 76th anniversary of the victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War and the end of World War II. I wholeheartedly congratulate the Armenian veterans of the Great Patriotic War, whose numbers, sadly, decrease year by year. I wish them endless health and prosperity.

It was through their selfless struggle and dedication that we were able to secure the peaceful and secure existence of our homeland, which we must always remember. Glory and honor to all our veterans, and to the people of both Armenian republics—peace and prosperity. God protect us all!”
