Yerevan Resident Steals 9,986,000 AMD Using Counterfeit Credit Cards
The investigation into a case of particularly large-scale theft using computer technology has concluded in the Main Directorate for the Investigation of Especially Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee.
It has been established that a resident of Yerevan, having acquired 64 counterfeit credit cards illegally made from various foreign bank customers, committed theft amounting to a total of 9,986,000 AMD using these counterfeit cards between October 29, 2019, and August 12, 2020. The individual regularly used computer technology to withdraw funds from real bank accounts associated with the identification numbers of genuine plastic cards at ATMs located on various streets of Yerevan.
Based on the gathered sufficient evidence, the man was charged under the first clause of the third part of Article 181 of the RA Criminal Code. As a preventive measure, bail was applied against him. The preliminary investigation has been completed concerning this segment, and the criminal case has been forwarded to the prosecutor with a motion to confirm the accusatory conclusion.
