Two Storks Shot in Ararat Region: Police Investigate Circumstances

In the Ararat region, the injured storks have been transferred to a rehabilitation center. On April 28, information regarding two injured storks in the Ararat region was shared in the Facebook group 'Armenian Birdwatching Association'. The Environmental and Natural Resources Inspectorate issued a statement, stating that employees from the Biodiversity Monitoring Division and the Ararat Territorial Department immediately traveled to the Mkhchyan community in the Ararat region of Armenia and transported the injured birds to Yerevan for treatment, care, rehabilitation, and quarantine at the 'Zoo Fauna Art' rehabilitation center. According to the specialists at the center, the storks' injuries were caused by gunshot wounds.

In response to a question from ArmDaily.am, Zardand Gabrielian, head of the Police Public Relations and Media Department, stated, 'On May 3, a notification was sent in writing from the Ararat regional prosecutor's office to the Artashat division of the police to prepare materials in accordance with Articles 180-181 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia. The circumstances are being clarified. Materials are being prepared.'
