Video: 50-year-old Yeghgnadzor resident kills his sister's 28-year-old son with a hunting rifle and surrenders to police
On the evening of May 1, police in Yeghgnadzor received reports of gunfire on Yerevan Highway in the city. Officers from various divisions immediately responded to the scene. At the location in the area of a winery, there were traces of blood and damaged vehicles from gunfire.
As a result of operational and investigative measures taken on site, Yeghgnadzor police established the following: preliminary information indicates that a 50-year-old man living in Yeghgnadzor had gotten into a dispute several days earlier with his sister's 28-year-old son over interpersonal issues. When he saw him on May 1 on Yerevan Highway, he fired from a hunting rifle registered in his name at the 28-year-old cousin who was exiting a vehicle.
The young man was immediately transported to the Yeghgnadzor Medical Center but unfortunately, his injuries were incompatible with life.
During the search of the crime scene, law enforcement discovered the weapon used in the crime, which was seized. Following the clarification of the matter, Yeghgnadzor criminal investigators initiated measures to locate the 50-year-old man. During this time, he turned himself into the Yeghgnadzor police, from where he was taken to the investigative department of Vayots Dzor province and arrested.
The pre-investigation of the criminal case initiated on the grounds of murder is ongoing.
