Man Arrested for the Murder of His Sister's Son in Vayots Dzor

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his sister's son, as a series of circumstances surrounding the case have been revealed, including the motives for the murder, according to the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

According to preliminary findings, the victim had previously prohibited his uncle from attending the funeral ceremony of his late mother. Following this, on May 1, 2021, at around 21:10, with the intention of unlawfully taking a life, the suspect fired a shot from a double-barreled hunting gun towards his sister's son at the premises of 'Getnatun' LLC located on Yerevan Highway in Yeghegnadzor. The victim died on the spot.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of committing a criminal act as defined by part 1 of article 104 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (murder). The preliminary investigation is ongoing.

As previously reported, on May 1, at around 21:40, the police received a call from the Yeghegnadzor Medical Center indicating that a citizen had been admitted with gunshot wounds. The injured individual later died without regaining consciousness.
