Why the Situation Escalated When Greeting Pashinyan in Meghri
Today, particular attention was drawn to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Syunik in the National Assembly, where the issue of businesses owned by the mayor of Meghri was actively discussed. It was also stated that the protests were organized by the "agents" of the second president, Kocharian, as mentioned by Vahegan Aleksanyan, a member of the "My Step" faction during his speech.
According to ArmDaily.am, the situation in Agarak and Meghri surrounding Pashinyan’s visit escalated due to the behavior of his security personnel. Initially, only expressions like "Nikol the Traitor" and "Capitulator" were heard. However, when security staff attempted to restrain and remove the individuals protesting, the patience of the crowd wore thin, and they lost control. In response to the actions of the security personnel, the attendees remarked: "When it is time to go to war - this is our land, we are standing on our land now, and you say go away from here."
Our source notes that if Pashinyan’s security personnel had spoken with a bit more respect to the men participating in the war and expressing their discontent regarding the Prime Minister's visit, perhaps the visit would not have received such a reaction.
