Upcoming Elections as Geopolitical Choice for Country's Development
Former Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Armen Gevorgyan, has stated:
“Visible and invisible processes are unfolding around us. When I say around us, I mean not only Armenia but also Russia, the CSTO, and our neighbors. Today, there were reports of military clashes on the border of two CSTO members, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The lines of tension in Russia's zone of strategic interests are increasing. It is a very understandable tactic to diversify Russia's capabilities and resources as much as possible. I wouldn’t be surprised if it suddenly turns out that Turkish ears are once again growing behind such escalations!! Life shows that tensions in the region of Russia's strategic interests will only increase. Our allied relations suggest that Armenia must be a strong and reliable partner to fulfill not only its own but also allied obligations. The upcoming elections are primarily a geopolitical choice for the country's development. The elections, scheduled for June 20, have not yet been officially announced. Almost all political forces are ready for extraordinary parliamentary elections. The results of sociological surveys are no longer significant. Everyone is ready to go to the polls. Concerns are raised that many participants in the process will forget to talk about the disastrous outcomes of Nikol's governance, the causes and consequences of the 44-day war. They will not talk about new programs or discuss new ideas but will focus on discrediting individuals, blackening the past, and distancing us from the future. It is clear that stability and the resolution of the political crisis in the country, as well as trust as an ally, will only come after Nikol's departure from power. Until that happens, we will be in a continuous state of chaos and potential civil confrontation, the economic crisis will deepen, migration will increase, and security will weaken. There is no room for yielding to others in Armenia.”
