Citizen Dies but Receives Prosthetic Shoes Two Days Later: 'Zhoghovurd'

'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports that discrepancies have been identified in the process of providing hearing aids and wheelchairs by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia. The report reveals that the Audit Chamber of Armenia recorded a case in which a citizen passed away on August 10, 2019, yet two days later received two prosthetic shoes worth 27,000 dram from 'Planta Sana' LLC.

Furthermore, it was discovered that in the informational subsystem for providing prosthetic, orthopedic, and rehabilitation equipment, there was an application submitted by the beneficiary on August 12, 2019 (the day the individual had passed away) requesting assistance. Additionally, the personal card of the beneficiary was also found.

Moreover, it became known that there have been 67 cases where beneficiaries were recorded as having been outside of Armenia when receiving assistive devices, according to the system's data. Specifically, 40 beneficiaries who had left the country before 2019 received assistive devices in that year. Meanwhile, 27 beneficiaries who crossed borders during 2019 were not in Armenia on the day they were due to receive assistive devices.
