VIDEO: Two Women Subject a Third Woman to Sexual Exploitation; They Have Been Arrested

The officers of the Department for Combating Trafficking of the Criminal Police Chief Directorate received operational information that two women, aged 36 from Yerevan and 45 from the Ararat region, were subjecting a third woman to sexual exploitation.

According to the information and public relations department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, the exploiters took advantage of the fact that the woman was fully or partially deprived of her ability to understand the nature and significance of her actions due to a mental disorder.

“As a result of the operational and investigative measures taken, evidentially significant factual data were obtained. It was revealed that the exploiters, through violence or threats, forced the woman to engage in prostitution on Artsakh Street in the capital, on Artashat Highway, and in the city of Masis, taking all the money she earned,” the statement reads.

According to the source, the criminal case initiated has been sent to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

The RA Police also reported that on April 27, officers and investigators from the Department for Combating Trafficking carried out searches at the registered and residential addresses of the female resident of Yerevan. The exploitative women have been arrested, and the trafficking victim has been transferred to the center for the support of victims of human trafficking and exploitation. The investigation continues.

Suspects or accused in the alleged crime are considered innocent until proven guilty by a final court judgment in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
