In Yekaterinburg, a man has been unable to find work for 9 years. He believes that the reason lies in his name: Stalin Sargsyan. The 55-year-old Stalin Sargsyan’s father was an apparent Stalinist, and he expressed that admiration by naming his son after the infamous leader.

Problems began around 2012. He was refused a passport, and then his job applications started to be rejected. The paperwork issue was resolved in 2017, but employment remains elusive.

According to Stalin, reasons for the rejections are never given, but the problem is clearly tied to his name; potential employers are intimidated and try to distance themselves from the ghosts of the past.
