President Armen Sarkissian Becomes a 'Regular Client' of the Constitutional Court
Recently, President Armen Sarkissian has frequently appealed to the Constitutional Court regarding the constitutionality of laws adopted by the National Assembly. The latest appeal pertains to the law on 'Higher Education and Science' and 22 related laws. Prior to that, there were four other appeals submitted to the Constitutional Court.
The press secretary of the Constitutional Court, Eva Tovmasyan, provided us with information: the president is disputing several articles in the amendments to the 'Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia' and the 'Law on the Justice Academy'; the hearing on this appeal is scheduled for May 25.
The next case is regarding the 'Military Service and Soldier's Status' law, where the need for an appeal arose during the dismissal of the former Chief of General Staff, Onik Gasparyan; the hearing will take place on June 1.
Additionally, the 'Constitutional Law on the Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia' and its related amendments to the 'Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia' and the 'Law on State Duty' are still in the preliminary examination phase.
