8 Political Parties Issue Joint Statement

On May 25, Nikol Pashinyan resigned, yet in violation of all legal and political grounds, he presented an ultimatum to the political forces and citizens of the Republic of Armenia, stating that by resigning he would continue to hold the position of acting Prime Minister, and only under this condition would he agree to hold snap parliamentary elections.

We declare and warn:

A. Nikol Pashinyan must resign from the position of Prime Minister to ensure that state and administrative forces and structures are not used to reproduce his authority; otherwise, his actions will be classified as usurpation of power.

B. His further tenure as acting Prime Minister will pose a direct threat to the legality of the upcoming elections, resulting in a weak and puppet parliament, which means also a corresponding executive authority.

C. The formation of a parliament with low legality will directly provoke internal political and civil clashes, leading to the disintegration of the Republic of Armenia.
