VIDEO: Georgia Prevents Armored Trucks from Reaching Armenia from Russia

Two trucks transporting armored vests from Russia to Armenia have been stranded at the 'Verdin Larsi' checkpoint for nearly a month. User Lyudmila Manukyan reported on her Facebook page that the trucks have been stuck in the neutral zone at the Russia-Georgia border for over a month. The trucks were dispatched from Moscow on March 5 as humanitarian aid.

On March 28, Georgian border guards confiscated the drivers' documents, prohibiting them from moving forward. Manukyan stated that the drivers have been stuck there for nearly a month, but the issue is still unresolved. She also shared a video from the checkpoint.

In a conversation with a reporter from Sputnik Armenia, one of the drivers shared that the situation is practically resolved, and they could move towards Armenia the next day. Another driver confirmed that they have been at the checkpoint for about a month with humanitarian cargo. According to him, they were stopped by Georgian border guards who indicated that such cargo is considered special-purpose goods, requiring permission from the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.

"We showed the cargo to them, and they confirmed that it was just armored vests, nothing else. Then they resealed the boxes, and we are left waiting for a resolution to the issue," said driver Karen.

Karen also mentioned that if a force majeure occurs and they are not allowed to proceed tomorrow, they plan to return to Russia as they have grown tired of waiting.

According to Anna Naghdalyan, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Armenian embassy in Georgia is in constant contact with the relevant authorities. "Efforts are being made to promptly resolve the issue," said Naghdalyan.

It should be noted that this is not the first time trucks have been denied passage through 'Verdin Larsi.' This usually occurs due to a lack of proper documentation.
