Fizuli and Zangelan International Airports Being Built for Attacks Against Iran, Political Scientist
The authoritarian leader of Azerbaijan visited the occupied southwestern territories of Artsakh yesterday and attended the inauguration of a new international airport in Kovsakan (Zangelan). Political scientist Gagik Hambaryan reported this on his Facebook page.
“I would like to remind you that previously Ilham had declared that an international airport would also be built in Fizuli, which is planned to be completed by April-May 2022... It turns out that Baku is constructing two international airports in the occupied southern regions of Artsakh—Fizuli and Zangelan, which are quite close to each other.
Those well-acquainted with geography and geopolitical processes can quickly surmise that these two airports are being built very close to the Iranian border and can, if necessary, be converted from civilian to military use, providing services to the anti-Iranian forces that have allocated a significant portion of their planned war against Iran to Azerbaijan, as well as to the territories of Artsakh occupied by Azerbaijan, from where they intend to not only conduct reconnaissance with UAVs and military aircraft but also, primarily considering the number of Turkish-Azerbaijanis living in northwest Iran, to escalate the situation in that region of Iran, thereby creating a platform for the transfer of centrifugal and diversionary forces into Iranian territory.
It is already surprising that in the occupied territories, Baku has not constructed any residential settlements but is hastily building some international airports... This is a way of expressing gratitude to those forces that helped Ilham to subjugate Armenia into capitulation and showing that Baku is loyal and grateful to them and is rapidly preparing for the anticipated aggression against Iran by creating relevant platforms along its border with Iran.
Moreover, according to unofficial data, American, some Western, and Israeli military personnel have long been deployed secretly and have even small bases near the border with Iran... After virtually eliminating Iraq, Libya, and Syria as pivotal countries rich in oil and gas and asserting total control over Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, and Oman, the US and the West are preparing to implement their plans to seize Iranian oil and gas, in which Azerbaijan has its role and place...
As for Armenia, the planned war against Iran and its alleged dismemberment contradict our national interests and could completely blockade our country, as it is not ruled out that northwest Iran, with which we share a border, may participate in the war against Tehran as a ‘thank you’ to Baku.
P.S. Ankara, Baku, and their partners initiated the second war in Artsakh, as a result of which we lost, it sparked the dismemberment of Russia, Iran, and China... While relevant forces and centers are interested in Iranian oil and gas, their allies Ankara and Baku are implementing Erdoğan’s neo-Panturkist and neo-Ottoman projects...” he wrote.
