Education Workers Summoned by Police and Held Until Midnight
For several days now, workers from nearly all educational institutions in Yerevan—teachers, educators, and others—have been summoned to police stations and held until midnight or even later under questionable circumstances. This was reported by Ruslan Baghdasaryan, the former head of the Davtashen administrative district, on his Facebook page, alongside a posted photograph.
“This is nothing more than ‘pre-election explanatory work’ with citizens working in the education system. The document presented below clearly shows that the municipality is tasked by the police to ensure the documents concerning the mentioned individuals, while these individuals are being summoned verbally, packed in groups into a room, and humiliated under the guise of conducting an investigation. We had a city mayor with a scowling face—I’m addressing him, Hayk Marutyan. Do you have any shame? Your employees are being dragged through police departments, or are you encouraging such police behavior to secure votes for the capitulator?” Baghdasaryan wrote.
“I call on our dear citizens working in educational institutions—not to be afraid of the police and municipal officials. Demand that everything be done within the framework of the law, consult with lawyers, and go to the police without their support. I am fully prepared to assist anyone who needs it,” Baghdasaryan stated. “There will be no Turk in Armenia.”
