VIDEO: Abraham Gasparyan Debates Turkish Government MP on 'Al Arabiya' TV
Armenian News commentator Abraham Gasparyan has debated a member of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party on 'Al Arabiya,' a television network with an audience of 300 million. At the end of the debate, the Turkish official levied insults against the Armenian people, leading the host to cut the broadcast short.
In concluding his remarks, Gasparyan stated, "The barbarism and enmity that the Ottoman Empire exhibited towards Armenians 100 years ago were once again manifested in your guest's demeanor today."
Later, Abraham Gasparyan addressed the incident on his Facebook page, writing, "In two lines, I’ll summarize: the Turkish interlocutor continued to distort history and politics while pushing Ankara's denialist theses, which I shattered with facts. During his comments, I corrected the historical false propaganda several times with ripostes. He became agitated and lost his composure completely as I encouraged him. The host had to intervene as my interlocutor resorted to personal insults. I concluded the broadcast with the following thought: 'The barbarism and hatred that the Ottoman Empire demonstrated towards Armenians 100 years ago, I witnessed embodied in your guest today.' I will provide more details about the debate during my own show. Tomorrow, a complete Armenian translation of the broadcast will also be available," he wrote in the comments section of his latest post.
