Both Must Leave, Those Who Wrote the Laws Are Also Those Who Exploit and Abuse Them: Marukyan
In 2018, the process of dissolving the parliament unfolded in this way: the Prime Minister resigned, was not elected twice, and the parliament was dissolved, with the acting Prime Minister being the current one. In other words, a certain practice was established, and the law was interpreted in that manner at that time; I don't recall any political force that participated in the elections challenging that practice. The same thing is being done now.
Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the LHK party, made this statement in a conversation with reporters, addressing discussions within their party regarding not nominating a candidate for Prime Minister in the early elections.
Marukyan noted that if Pashinyan is not the acting Prime Minister after his resignation and Tigran Avinyan assumes that role, nothing will change. “The practice has been like this, and the people who did not contest it three years ago now want to challenge this practice. The laws were written at that time in such a way that they can do whatever they want; they have written them now, and they are doing whatever they wish. So, what are you complaining about now? The authors of those laws are now complaining that we have written laws that the current government can do anything with. Let them take their laws to the Constitutional Court for a challenge; this government has not amended those laws for three years. We say both must leave, those who wrote those laws and those who are exploiting and abusing them. What do they want from Edmon Marukyan? I neither wrote that law nor founded that practice,” he concluded.
