Artsakh National Assembly's Statement on Joe Biden's Use of the Term 'Armenian Genocide'

The Artsakh National Assembly has welcomed the use of the term 'Armenian Genocide' in the message of US President Joe Biden on April 24, noting that legal claims of stateless Armenians living in the Diaspora were not satisfied in the US under the pretext of the genocide not being recognized.

The statement reads: “We warmly welcome US President Joe Biden’s use of the term 'Armenian Genocide' in his April 24 message, by which he has effectively officially recognized the 106-year-old crime against the Armenians. This step by the US President is described as a restoration of historical justice and truth, a reaffirmation of human rights and values, and humanitarian principles. We are convinced that these and similar statements will prevent new genocides.”

“To this day, legal claims of stateless Armenians living in the Diaspora were not satisfied in the US under the pretext that the genocide has not been recognized. We believe that the rights of our compatriots in the Diaspora have also been restored. Despite the rejection and condemnation of Biden’s statement by the political authorities of Turkey and Azerbaijan, it is already a reality, and nothing will change this.”
