My Brother Was Taken by Force Despite Having a High Fever and Pneumonia: Shurnukh Mayor

The former administrative head of Shurnukh, Ararat Aghabekyan, has been arrested and is currently at the Investigative Committee. This was reported today, April 23, in a conversation with NEWS.am by the village mayor of Shurnukh, Hakob Arshakyan.

"Last night, my brother's fever spiked sharply. He was not taken to the hospital; instead, an ambulance was called, they administered injections, and his fever went down. I have not spoken to him directly. I am in touch with him through his lawyer, and he says he is feeling better now," said Shurnukh Mayor Hakob Arshakyan.

According to Arshakyan, due to his poor health condition, Ararat Aghabekyan could not participate in the protest actions organized during Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's visit to various communities in Syunik.

"My brother was taken by force, without any explanations, and no documentation was provided regarding the grounds or reasons for his arrest. My brother, who had a fever of 39-40 degrees Celsius and pneumonia, was bedridden and undergoing injections. He was also preparing to take a coronavirus test yesterday, but now I don't know if they have taken him for testing or not," Arshakyan stated.
