Nikol Pashinyan Instructs Arrest of Former Syunik Governor Vahe Hakobyan and His Wife

Lawyers of former Syunik Governor Vahe Hakobyan have issued a statement.

“Reliable information has been received that during the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia today in the Syunik region, law enforcement bodies were instructed to arrest former Syunik Governor and chairman of the 'Revival of Armenia' party Vahe Hakobyan and his wife at any cost. Should this happen, it will undoubtedly be recorded as another instance of political persecution aimed at criminally prosecuting a politician and his close associate for their own political views, which we have repeatedly stated is unacceptable. At the same time, we announce that we will pursue the protection of our clients' rights and legal interests by any legal means. The struggle against the internal enemy continues, but it is close to its natural resolution,” the statement from lawyers Jirair Gharagyozyan and Erik Aleksanyan reads.
