It’s Natural That This Reaction Occurred, They Felt Disregarded: Shurnukh Mayor on Pashinyan's Surprise Visit to Residents' Homes
Everyone went home excited, without receiving answers to any questions. This was stated by Hakob Arshakyan, the mayor of Shurnukh village in Syunik Province, in an interview with Auroranews, referring to the prime minister's surprise visit today and the displeasure expressed by citizens.
Earlier, we reported that Nikol Pashinyan visited the residents of Shurnukh village late last night and unexpectedly entered their homes. One of the residents, Naira Galstyan, expressed her dissatisfaction with the surprise visit during a conversation with media, stating that the prime minister's security and accompanying staff had frightened them.
"I came out and saw a stranger who said they wanted to come in. I replied that I do not accept Pashinyan, closed the door, and went back inside, only to hear them knocking on the door. Pashinyan entered with his team, and the security personnel surrounded the area around the house. This is not how it should be done; there is a small child in the house, this is not the behavior of a prime minister," the resident said.
When asked if the citizens who received the prime minister had complained to the mayor about the surprise visit and the inconveniences it caused, Arshakyan said that no one had approached him personally, but he is aware that an unacceptable situation has developed. "They haven’t complained to me, but it’s natural that this reaction should occur; they felt disregarded," said the mayor.
In response to the question of how he personally feels about the surprise visit, he said, "I don’t know, I don’t know anything, I don’t understand what’s happening and what it’s for." By around 5:00 PM yesterday, the residents of Shurnukh had blocked the road entering the village. According to the mayor’s comments, he does not know what questions the residents have for the prime minister.
“People have different moods; some think softly, some are harsh, others suggest ignoring it,” he added.
