The Airplane Returned Empty from Baku Because No One Went to Bring Back Prisoners, Muradov Was on a Working Visit: Avagyan

Some of the MPs from the 'My Step' faction are declaring that they should go to the Russian ambassador and ask him to appeal to the Russian president regarding the issue of Armenian prisoners. This is unacceptable. This was stated by Boris Avagyan, the special representative of the President of Artsakh, during a working discussion in the National Assembly on the return of Armenian prisoners of war.

“If an MP allows himself to direct his citizens to a foreign ambassador to report to his country's president, then he is incompetent and not in his place. It would be better if they do not speak at all because they will harm their political team,” said Avagyan.

He noted that the statements made by MPs and officials, which shifted the responsibility for the return of Armenian prisoners towards Russia and the commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces, Muradov, are hindering the process of returning Armenian prisoners.

“If you have a military ally that helps you in every way, and as the ruling political force, you allow state employees to boldly insult the dignitaries of that ally, it complicates the process of returning prisoners because those who are making all efforts to assist us are receiving such treatment, and not one member of the ruling force criticized that,” Avagyan stated.

He clarified that the airplane from Baku returned empty because it did not go to retrieve prisoners; instead, Muradov went on a working visit, but some people had thought or hoped that prisoners were supposed to return.
