Father of Fallen Soldier Responds to Defense Army's Denial: "We Requested Identification, None Was Shown to Confirm if He Was a Soldier"
The agency that has hidden the truth from people for 44 days is attempting to cast doubt on the statements of the parents and relatives of the fallen soldier, wrote Hasmik Martirosyan, the aunt of the soldier who died in Hadrut, while commenting on the Defense Army's denial on Facebook.
It should be noted that Hasmik Martirosyan mentioned that a taxi driver had handed over her late cousin's medal to the father. The Defense Army also denied this information, stating that the medal was handed over to the victim's relative by Lieutenant Edgar Apresyan.
At the request of the father of the deceased, Hasmik Martirosyan shared his words on her page: "The Defense Army has denied my publication and claimed that what I wrote has no relation to reality. After seeing the denial, the father of the fallen soldier, Robert Karapetyan, Andranik Karapetyan—who is also the husband of my cousin—contacted me. Andranik asked me to publish his words unchanged, so I write: 'On March 6, at 23:30, an agreement was made with me under the bridge of Hokkaido. An unfamiliar man came. He said he was one of their officers. We requested identification, but none was shown to convince me that he was a soldier. There was no offer to come to the house. I took him to the cemetery and told him, 'You are not a soldier, and whatever you brought, leave it at the child's grave and go.' '
You say he was a soldier. The parent to whom the medal was given says he had no document and does not know who handed it to him. Is contacting the parent around midnight also part of the award handover ceremony? It is simply astonishing that an agency that has hidden the truth from people for 44 days is trying to cast doubt on the statements of the fallen soldier's parents and relatives. I thank everyone for their support and assistance, as well as the media that did not remain indifferent and spread the information," the aunt of the fallen soldier wrote on her Facebook page.
