Vardan Atabekyan Proposes Formation of Working Group on Prisoners' Issues
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that independent MP Vardan Atabekyan, who left the "My Step" faction, is initiating the formation of a working group focused on prisoners' issues. This group will include independent MPs who have also left the "My Step" faction, and an invitation has been extended to the opposition factions in the National Assembly.
A preliminary discussion will take place on Monday, where it will become clear who supports the proposal and who does not. The group will also address matters of its structure.
They will collaborate with the commander of peacekeeping forces in Artsakh, Muradov, who is also engaged in the return of prisoners, to understand what deficiencies exist and what needs to be done that is currently not being addressed in order to organize the return of prisoners as soon as possible.
According to the newspaper, Arthur Tovmasyan, the President of the Artsakh National Assembly, has also approached Armenian lawmakers regarding this issue, requesting the establishment of an active format that would also involve Artsakh MPs. As is known, opposition circles in Artsakh reject state formats and do not meet with MP Nazeli Baghdasaryan, a member of the commission dealing with prisoners' issues.
